CollegeFashionista Feature

Today, I woke up and was super happy to see this brought to my attention via a Tweet from @CFashionista. I clicked through and lo and behold! There I was, gracing the front page of CollegeFashionista. 

Being the vain narcissist and pessimist that I am, I was slightly surprised/bewildered to see this was the first outfit of mine they chose to feature. After all, I posted pictures like this:

And this: 

Which I thought looked much more fashion bloggy/street styling, but didn't receive so much as a blink of the eye or a word of praise. So, I guess it just goes to show that sweatshirts + dressy skirts = more relatable than floral dresses and polka dots...? Clearly, I have still not figured out their judgment system. (*Cough* Especially considering many of the featured articles aren't well-written in the least...)

I've been searching for a cute, simple pair of high-waisted polka dot black and white shorts. I could shell out the $69.50 for the Madewell pair...or I could just buy the Forever 21 pair. Especially since they're both imported, most likely from China.

Christmas! ♥

I found these as I was searching through the blog folder the other day. The Christmas tree kind of dates this, so I'll confess: this was the outfit I wore on Christmas at the family celebration. We went to our Grandma's house and ate, talked, hung out, and had a genuinely merry time with all the cousins. Super late posting, I know, but enjoy anyway ;)

My lovely Free People Velvet Skinnies have since ripped (one leg, horizontally--like shorts) which makes me very put out. >:( I'll have to lug out the sewing machine when I have time. Which, considering all the homework I still have (second semester seniors with no work? That's a myth at my school) will be never. Also, I need black thread. Things to do. Sigh. 

The Cat's Pajamas

I was browsing the sale sections of internet boutiques instead of doing homework (what else is new?) when I came across this gorgeous 100% silk Rachel Antonoff Kusum Blouse--a fun, spotty take on the classic pajama top silhouette.

The pajama dressing trend first became popular around January-February, stayed for Spring/Summer 2012, and was alive and well at Fashion Week for fall '12 (pajama suits are apparently a thing now). And while I don't think I'm quite ready for a pajama suit, I'd totally be willing to wear this top around town with a structured jacket, slim pants, and some heels. The oversized polka dots are just so much fun, and it doesn't hurt that it's a great markdown besides. Also, have I mentioned that I have a huge thing for buttondowns?

Cheap Cheats: Polka Dot Blazer

I've been wanting a polka dot blazer recently, so I researched my options. I first saw this adorable Madewell blazer in store:

However, seeing as my parents would kill me if I spent that much on a blazer (they might be more willing for a pair of AG Stevies--but that's a story for another time ;)) I searched and found this cheaper alternative:
