Bottoms Up

Recently, I've been doing a lot of online window shopping, especially for pants and shorts. There are just so many covetable pieces in stores right now, including the delicious markdowns of end-of-summer (and soon, Labor Day Weekend) sales. Here are some of my fave pieces as of late:

Look at that nice dark background. It just makes the florals pop so nicely :D

Next up, some refreshing mint skinny flares from Madewell:
The perfect shade for a nice back-to-school pick me up.

And some Free People floral shorts I've had my eye on for awhile now that've gone on sale:

Some more Free People printed denim...
Free People Millennium Ikat Printed Skinny-$54.60

And to top it off, the best deal I've seen for a long time:

I sort of have a little obsession with colored cords. And these are such a steal, as they're originally $237. Top that off with 10% off via code TULIP and extra 20-30% for being a new customer, and it's practically stealing.

Now to convince the parents.

Dickens Christmas Fair 2011 ♥

Throwback time! For some reason, I suddenly reminisced upon the time I went to the Dickens Christmas Fair with my school's Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Club.

My friend Jodi. I'm not sure where her clothes are from, but we tried to dress in Dickens-ish clothing at least.

Random goods to buy in one of the shops. Everything was so cool, but so expensive!

Leather mugs. Case in point. I mean, tell me that's not cool.
(Well, I guess it wouldn't be cool if you were a cow, but...)

Awesome leather journal and wooden BOOK BOX. Agh, I want one.

I totally want to go back to the Dickens Fair this year. The atmosphere is just so magical, it's practically like stepping back in time. (I have a bit of a soft spot for historical reenactments and dressing up in period costume.) I hope GATE goes again this Christmas. :D
Have you guys ever gone to something like this?

Pac-Man and Palm Trees

When Nay and I went to Stanford Splash last year (I forget whether it was spring or fall--we've gone for a few years now), we took a shoe decorating class. Here's what we came up with.
I made Pac-Man Keds. :D

Clyde and Mrs. Pac-Man. (o^__^)o

Pinky and Pac-Man. And "High Score 8000".

Cheap Cheats: Polka Dot Blazer

I've been wanting a polka dot blazer recently, so I researched my options. I first saw this adorable Madewell blazer in store:
Madewell's Artdot Blazer-$138

However, seeing as my parents would kill me if I spent that much on a blazer (they might be more willing for a pair of AG Stevies--but that's a story for another time ;)) I searched and found this cheaper alternative:

Forever 21's Polka Dot Blazer-$24.80

Nice way to save over a hundred bucks. :D

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

More of me being a dork. This was a pic I found in the dusty archives of my computer.

Peek from the Past

Early 90s. Me and cousin Meghan with Disney straws. Embellished denim jumper and a pink jean jacket, that's what's up. Stylin' at an early age ;)

Look at her adoring face! If only I could see that expression again...
And I'm rocking the overalls and tank top look, if I do say so myself.

On Writing (and Books)

Me in Vigoss jeans, a men's v-neck, and my UVA sweatshirt.
If only I had a red hunting cap. Sigh.

Nay in ResQ jeans, a Patagonia sweatshirt, and handknit armwarmers.

We have the two-in-one edition of Alice in Wonderland :D

Enter... if you dare.

Vested Interest

These are from the shoot we did on Saturday. I found the denim vest in the back of my mom's closet and knew I had to have it! :D

Just look at that little crossed detail. :D ♥

Dying for DIY

Refashioned an old shirt from my dad. :D

Cheap Cheats: Striped Blanket Shorts

Hey, all! Cheap Cheats is going to be an ongoing series by me (Sarah) or Nay. We'll be finding things that we like and posting cheaper alternatives. Enjoy! :)

If you love the El Cortez shorts, but can't afford them, try...

Okay, okay, they're not exactly alike, but c'mon--from $78 to $15.90? You can't beat that kind of mark down.

Hey Mickey, You're So Fine

Photo shoot from Saturday. :) The vintage-wash tee and distressed jeans makes the outfit a bit more casual, while the blazer and Mary Janes make it look a bit more polished while still being comfy. I love Mickey.
Shirt: Disneyland | Blazer: Nordstrom | Jeans: Old Navy | Nurture Mary Janes: Dillards
Serious, slightly annoyed-looking model face lol, haha.
Flowers! K bye! :D

Prologue

It was a calm and plaintive sort of night. Two teenaged girls crouched around their typewriter, old magazines and catalogues as well as a camera strewn around them on the beige carpet.
"Let's make a fashion magazine of sorts," the older one mused. "We could take pictures of outfits and trends and such."
"Yes, lets!" The younger one clapped her hands excitedly.

Fast forward fifty years into the future--or less than that, as fashion (as well as good ideas) tend to repeat themselves.

We imagine this is the sort of thing they'd be writing.
